Live2Love: a Movement at the SoulFest!
In the second floor of a commercial building located at 628 Somerville Ave in Somerville, in the east side of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, not far from Harvard Square in Cambridge, there is a community of believers who meet there most on Sunday mornings. During the week they come together at homes for Bible study and fellowship.
There are young kids who grew up together, some of them are already married, others are still single, but they are united by a common passion for music.
Then there is a couple, Marcos and Giselia Nogueira, immigrants from Brazil who came to New England in June, 1997 to make disciples among the people of the land, especially among a growing Brazilian community in Boston. Within their hearts lie a passion for the youth and the freedom to let them be who they are and an ongoing incentive that they become who they want to be, that they fulfill their potential and big dreams and never stop dreaming greatness. Understand greatness as the pursuit of things that serve people and glorify Jesus only!
This pastoral couple mangled all barriers, language, insignificance, shyness, cultural stuff as they are raising a family of believers whose broader goal is to reach out the community and cherish causes that are not so common in the Brazilian community. So there came a cause, to bring awareness of human trafficking in the Boston area, in the United States and around the world.
Then came the band led by Debora DaSilva, guitar player and song writer, along with Fernanda Cerqueira (guitar player), Joao Dos Santos and Marcos Nogueira Jr (keyboards), Dino Baroni (bass player), Mike Barcelos (drummer), Roberta Barcelos and Elane Machado (vocalists). All of them are inflamed by the love of Christ and the fire of the Spirit to share worship as a life style, not just in singing, in praying, in church, but in performing day by day acts of Justice and goodness wherever they go.
This last weekend Live2Love Worship played at SoulFest at the Mercy Street Stage. Their debut in the festival went so well that the people present engaged not just in the music and lyrics, but in the Spirit of exaltation of Jesus Christ, the Savior, the Lamb, the Lover and the King.
They were humbled by the opportunity, though confident that this was going to be a spark for something bigger than themselves, a new beginning after the long waiting in prayer and preparation to share the cause of their hearts, which is to sing the songs of the Kingdom gospel about the victory of Jesus on the cross and His resurrection to bring up with Him many sons and daughters into Glory. And the causes that are dear to their hearts on serving people, doing missions and advocating Justice for the poor, for the people who are suffering, and for the boys and girls of God's world.
Yes, at SoulFest they sang essentially about the Lamb who has overcome! It is about the victory of Christ, even with suffering, pain and sacrifice. And it is also, of course, about the victory of His people - they are included. After all, we are all overcoming with Him.
