THE PROCESSIONARY CATERPILLARS IN THE DEATH MARCH By Jones Singini - South Africa #JSALUM
I read this story and was fascinated about it of Jean Henri Fabre who conducted an experiment with processionary caterpillars, because of their behavior to follow the one in front in a single file.
Fabre connected the one in front to the one at the back thereby forming a circle.
For a good 7 days these creatures aimlessly followed each other to the point of exhaustion and ultimate death. Even though pine needles was placed in the middle of the circle, the food the caterpillars like very much, they never managed to break from their senseless movement.
Are you not engaged in an activity that is mindless because everyone is doing it?
Hasn't culture eaten into your ability to think?
Are you not being destroyed by unnecessary religious rituals that are denying you an opportunity to encounter your destiny?
Aren't certain political dogmas and slogans killing your thinking capacity?
Haven't you been molded into a certain way of conforming that's destroying your uniqueness?
Are you not leading your life like the unthinking lower forms of life?
Every person has the ability to change their direction in life only if they break some senseless circles.
By relying totally on instinct, past experience, custom and tradition, the caterpillars achieved nothing because they mistook activity for achievement.
Do not be stuck forever in a march of doomed procession.
Be blessed and never get stuck in a processionary death march. Keep winning.
