ISRAEL: A NATION OF MIRACLES Dr Josimar Salum

ISRAEL: A NATION OF MIRACLES

Dr Josimar Salum

June 20,2025

How can we explain the enduring existence, resilience, and extraordinary achievements of the Jewish people across millennia of persecution, exile, war, and dispersion?

Reason alone cannot account for it.

Despite their historical disobedience and rejection of the Messiah, the Scriptures testify this:

“Concerning the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but concerning the election they are beloved for the sake of the fathers. For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. For as you were once disobedient to God, yet have now obtained mercy through their disobedience, even so these also have now been disobedient, that through the mercy shown you they also may obtain mercy. For God has committed them all to disobedience, that He might have mercy on all.” Romans‬ ‭11‬:‭28‬-‭32‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Their preservation, restoration, and global impact can only be rightly understood through the lens of the Grace of God. It is not merit, politics, or chance that sustain Israel — it is the sovereign hand of God.

The testimony below, of unknown authorship, echoes this truth: Israel remains a living miracle, not because of who they are, but because of who God is.

There is something about this people — the people of Israel — that feels like a living miracle.

A people the Pharaohs tried to erase 3,000 years ago… and failed.

A people the Babylonians sought to annihilate 2,500 years ago… and failed.

A people the Romans tried to wipe out 2,000 years ago… and failed.

A people the Nazis attempted to exterminate 80 years ago… and failed.

A people the Arab nations fought in five wars to destroy… and failed.

This is a small nation in number, yet marked by a singular strength — the blessing of God.

Wherever they lay their hands, they prosper: in finance, commerce, science, philosophy, literature.

They turned a desert into a flourishing land — not with oil or gas, but with liberty, democracy, intelligence, and unwavering resolve.

This is the people who gave the world Einstein, Newton, Spinoza, Freud… and countless others who profoundly shaped human thought.

There are truths that reason and logic alone cannot explain. There is only one word: miracle.

For over two and a half years, this people has fought on seven fronts.

Many predicted their exhaustion, even collapse.

Yet once again, they defy expectation — opening a new front against the Iranian threat, one that even unsettles Arab regimes.

This people, though few, possesses the courage of nobles, the wisdom of prophets, the endurance of the righteous, and the resolve of survivors.

How could it be otherwise? They are the descendants of Abraham, Solomon, David, Moses, Jacob, Joseph, Daniel… and more than a thousand prophets and messengers of their lineage.

They are the ones who brought monotheism and the knowledge of the one true God to the world — a people driven by a thirst for life, for work, for innovation, for continuity — a drive sustained for over 4,000 years.

I can find no better way to describe them than this: a nation of miracles.

If the Arab world had clear vision, it would choose to unite with this people — to learn from them, to work alongside them. Perhaps then, we too would share in their knowledge, their wisdom, and their dignity.

However, we must not ignore the spiritual dimension of their current reality.

On October 7, 2023, during what was publicly celebrated as an ancestral festival of freedom, a national event took place in Israel marked not by remembrance of God, but by acts of idolatry, immorality, and open rebellion. In the midst of the celebration, a massive statue of Buddha was erected, and people danced around it — a clear violation of the commandment of the Lord, who forbids the making and worship of any image or idol (Exodus 20:3–5).

This was more than a cultural expression — it was a moment of spiritual provocation, knowingly or not, against the very God who called Israel to be holy unto Himself. Throughout Scripture, the prophets repeatedly warned that turning to false gods invites judgment — not because God abandons His people, but because He is both gracious and just.

Tragically, Israel’s enemies struck on that very day. It stands as a sobering reminder that no covenant, no history of miracles, no divine calling removes the need for repentance and faithfulness. God remains faithful to His promises — but He also calls His people to return to Him with all their heart.

After all, we believers should pray for their conversion to Yeshua — the only name by which we must be saved.

This is exactly what the Apostle Paul expressed as the burden of his heart:

“Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved.” — Romans 10:1

Despite Israel’s historic rejection of Yeshua (Jesus) as the Messiah, the Scriptures make it clear that God has not rejected His people. Their endurance is a testimony of His covenantal faithfulness — but salvation, for them as for all, is found only through faith in Yeshua the Messiah.

Yet even as we marvel at the miraculous preservation and influence of the Jewish people, we who believe in the Messiah must remember this: God’s ultimate purpose is not merely their survival, but their salvation.

We are called not only to honor God’s covenant with Israel, but to pray fervently for their eyes to be opened, that they may see Yeshua — the promised Messiah — and turn to Him in faith.

“And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written: ‘The Deliverer will come out of Zion, and He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob.’” — Romans 11:26

Let every believer echo Paul’s cry: that the nation of miracles may yet experience the greatest miracle of all — redemption in the name of Yeshua, their King.

CONCERNING THE FRIENDSHIP BETWEEN BRAZIL AND ISRAEL Josimar Salum

CONCERNING THE FRIENDSHIP BETWEEN BRAZIL AND ISRAEL

Josimar Salum

Shalom, people of the Covenant!

Shalom, people of the Promise.

Shalom, people of God’s Love!

Shalom, to all who were born by His Eternal Word.

I have learned to love the Book of God since childhood, and among its passages I find these words to be a cornerstone and the fundament of my faith.

““For you are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth.

The Lord did not set His love on you, nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; but because the Lord loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers,

the Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

“Therefore, know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;” Deuteronomy‬ ‭7‬:‭6‬-‭9‬

Israel is a special treasure for the Eternal One Himself.

Not just every nation in the face of the Earth, but every inhabitant of this planet must face the Truth that their Creator has wisely set apart a people to bless them all, Israel!

And those who bless Israel are blessed also. This is simply a spiritual law and determines the rise and fall of all the nations and families of the Earth.

And those who align their lives, their families, their nations with these eternal and unchangeable words are meant to come under God’s promises that never fail.

Brazil has been a refuge for Jews throughout its history.

Jewish immigration in Brazil was a migratory movement that began with the colonization of Brazil when Sephardic Jews and New Christians settled in the colony.

The history of the Jews in Brazil began since the first Portuguese arrived in the country in 1500, notably Mestre João and Gaspar da Gama who arrived in the first ships. Several Sephardic Jews immigrated to Brazil during its early settlements. They were known as “New Christians” - Conversos or Marranos.

Jews were obliged to convert to Roman Catholicism by the Portuguese crown.

Although only baptized Christians were subjected to the Inquisition, Jews started settling in Brazil when the Inquisition reached Portugal. Many arrived in Brazil in the 1600’s during the period of Dutch rule, establishing in Recife the first synagogue.

Kahal Zur Israel (Rock of Israel) was a Jewish synagogue located at Rua do Bom Jesus (Street of the Jews) number 197 in Recife, Brazil.

It was established in 1636 by Portuguese and Spanish Sephardic Jews that had taken refuge in the Netherlands fleeing forced conversion and were joined by New Christians, who possibly helped to build the structure and were already living in the colony. It was the first synagogue erected in the Americas.

In the 19th and 20th centuries, the immigration of Jews to Brazil increased, and it was mainly composed of Ashkenazi Jews from Eastern Europe.

But here is a landmark we cherish of goodness and justice in our relations with Israel.

It was our hero Oswaldo Aranha who, after three years of Adolf Hitler's cruel attempt to exterminate the Jewish people, helped to establish the State of Israel on November 29, 1947. Oswaldo gave an unprecedented vote in the United Nations meeting, which was made possible six months later, through the persistence and firmness of those who believed that the land belonged to the Jews that the Jewish State was founded.

Yes, on May 14, 1948, David Ben-Gurion, the head of the Jewish Agency, proclaimed the establishment of the State of Israel.

It is true that there have been and there are antisemitic movements in Brazil executed by individuals and political leftist parties, but said movements are becoming inexpressive shadows in comparison to the greatness of the multitude of Brazilians that learned to love Israel and its people.

There are millions and millions of Brazilians, who worship the GOD of Israel every week, who pray constantly for the Peace of Jerusalem and that cherish love and respect for the people of Israel.

I am talking about more than 160 million Brazilian voices that support the State of Israel.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in December 2018 that the government of Jair Bolsonaro would bring "a new era" in relations between Israel and "the major power of Brazil". President Bolsonaro has turned Brazil in the last 4 years into Israel's new best friend, indeed.

The two nations enjoy a degree of arms cooperation and maintain close political and military ties. Brazil is a full member state of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance, and several Brazilian elected officials participate in the Israel Allies Caucus or Israel Allies Foundation which mobilizes pro-Israel parliamentarians in governments worldwide.

Our recently elected Congress has more than 70% constituents that are also pro-Israel and our First Lady Michelle Bolsonaro had recently invited our friend Albert Veksler, his wife, and others to celebrate Yom Kippur and they did at the beginning of this month in the Alvorada Palace. And they have hosted the First Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast in Brasilia for our amazement at the end of the month.

The Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast (JPB) is a prayer movement initiated and chaired by former Knesset Member Robert Ilatov, and co-chaired by U.S. Congresswoman Michele Bachmann and the director is Albert Veksler. Throughout the year, the JPB brings together government leaders and influential Christian leaders from all walks of society to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

We have prayed and worked to re-elect Jair Messias Bolsonaro for many reasons, but especially to consolidate the friendship, mutual support and mutual alliances between Israel and Brazil.

I was in Jerusalem to pray for Brazil, Israel and the US Election.

And from Jerusalem we have proclaimed these timeless chant:

JERUSALEM! YERUSHALAIM!

“Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you.

For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; But the Lord will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you.

The Gentiles shall come to your light, And kings to the brightness of your rising.

“The sons of foreigners shall build up your walls, and their kings shall minister to you;

For in My wrath, I struck you, But in My favor, I have had mercy on you.

Therefore, your gates shall be open continually; They shall not be shut day or night,

That men may bring to you the wealth of the Gentiles, and their kings in procession.

“Whereas you have been forsaken and hated, so that no one went through you, I will make you an eternal excellence, A joy of many generations.

“The sun shall no longer be your light by day, nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you;

But the Lord will be to you an everlasting light, And your God your glory.

Your sun shall no longer go down, nor shall your moon withdraw itself.

For the Lord will be your everlasting light, And the days of your mourning shall be ended.

Also, your people shall all be righteous; They shall inherit the land forever,

The branch of My planting, The work of My hands, That I may be glorified.”

Aruba, The Lover of His Soul.

By Josimar Salum

Text written July 31, 2013 almost midnight!!!

What friends we have in this beautiful Happy Island!

Sons of the King! They are Kings! They are seeds in the King’s hands.

The King is about to sprout them all!

How I love the country and the whole nation!

How I love these young and old burnt by the Son of Righteousness!

How sure I am the Holy Spirit is sweeping the territory from coast to coast and bring into the Kingdom thousands and thousands of Aruba natives and tourists from all over the world?

I am sure to the point that before I leave rain will pour our out from

Heaven and Sky!

Rain that only eyes can see and wind only ears can hear!

Who is He like the Son of Man coming and walking on the waters and over the waves?

The King! Oh the King of Glory, the Lover of Aruba!

Oh! Yeshua, the Desired One; for all islands of the oceans, seas and rivers.

Sister Cynthia Croes, an Aruba woman of God wrote today

(August 3, 2013):

"Our friend Josimar Salum wrote this last Wednesday when

he arrived in Aruba (text above).

I told him that we didn't have rain in Aruba for about 6 months.

Alleluia! It is raining in Aruba in so many places today.

The Weather.com is broadcasting rain for next 3/4 days.

Alleluia! Josimar will leave Aruba this Monday, but it is raining

already. Glory be to the King!
