Pastors' biggest frustration

Pastors' biggest frustration

Josimar Salum

Pastors constantly tell me that their biggest frustration is dealing with church leaders and members who are not converted.

They talk about betrayal, merciless criticism, attacks and rejection when they are voted out of the church or those who, full of malice and evil, divided the congregation.

They talk about colleagues who compete dishonestly, the gossip between them, the lack of trust... They basically live in isolation.

Without further analysis, the issue basically falls into the fact that pastors put all their energy into making members of their churches and not disciples of Jesus.

Membership: this is a structure that the Holy Spirit has always rejected. It simply does not exist in Scripture.

Making members is much easier, but keeping them generates enormous frustration. It's hard to live with carnal, lying, angry, untestimonial, immoral, indecent, hateful people who need to be born again.

It is a fact that Jesus never ordered us to become members of the church, but disciples who follow Him and keep what He taught.

If there were no members, but only disciples, there would be no need for statutes and rules to govern the group. The Bible would be enough.

Pastors of God and disciples of Jesus are increasingly tired of these things. So it is!

When a pastor no longer fulfills with joy the ministry he received from the Lord, what he is doing is not ministry” — ASONE.
