THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A FATHER AND A DAD
Paul Taylor
The difference between a Father and a Dad is: Father is a title of respect and reverence. Dad is a title of endearment and warmth.
When I was growing up I was taught that real men do not cry.
They do not show their emotions.
Fathers in past generations were often hard on their sons, thinking this would make them men. This doesn’t mean that today fathers can not be strong and firm with their sons.
However hardness does not make a man out of our sons.
As has been spoken, it is the giving of oneself to our children, being a role model in all aspects of life and yes, showing our emotions at the appropriate time.
The shortest verse in the Bible is that of Jesus showing His emotions. "Jesus wept."
He was a role model to all of us fathers that we should show our children the soft side of a man.
Hug your sons and daughters. Tell them you love them.
I had a great dad, but he was raised from the old model. It was rare for him to say "I love you" to my brother and me.
He was a great father because he showed us his love by his actions, but it was missed to hear him say, I love you.
Let me say finally this, If I were to choose which is more important, saying I love you or showing your love by your actions, I would choose showing your love by your actions!
Thank God, our Heavenly Father has done both!
