SOMETIMES CHRISTIAN MARRIAGE STRUGGLE MORE THAN NON-CHRISTIAN MARRIAGES.
Zenzo & Michelle Matoga
Here are 9 reasons why:
.
1- We forget that the job of the Holy Spirit is not to communicate for us. (Learn how to communicate to your spouse.)
.
2- We’ve believed a lie that counseling is for weak and struggling marriages. (The Bible says having counselors is wisdom.)
.
3- We think that salvation by itself automatically fixes trauma and childhood issues. (Therapy for your trauma and childhood issues could be the thing that heals your marriage.)
.
4- We don’t know who to talk to in church because the church has a judgmental culture. (Work on getting some sincere church friends. If they are gossiping with you, your personal information is not safe with them.)
.
5- Church people still get very uncomfortable teaching or talking about sex. (Remember that sex is God’s idea, not man’s idea. Sex is a weapon to protect your marriage.)
.
6- We are always expecting Jesus to change our spouse. (The only thing you have the power to change is yourself. Working on yourself can bring progress to your marriage faster than you focusing on your spouse.)
.
7- We posses the preacher mentality. “Do what I tell you, not as I do.” (Work on forgiving your spouse and others. Preaching about it is helping others, not you or your marriage.)
.
8- We neglect our spouse’s needs while serving in church. (God wants you to take care of your home first. You can’t make the world healthy if your home is not.)
.
9- The devil hates Christian marriages. (Instead of arguing more, start praying together more. The devil is your enemy, not your spouse.)
