The contrast between the Kingdom mindset and the Church mindset. By Jeremie Manirakiza
Concerning the contrast between the church mindset and the kingdom mindset, those who have a church mindset are the people who think that God is only in the church and that He controls only those who are in the church, the church we are talking about here is a building; the place where we worship on Sunday and not the body of Christ. Any way the expression “God controls those who are in the Church” is very religious, first, it is not Biblical and secondly there is a huge difference between controlling people that would put an end in their liberty of choices, they would be like robots and God governing that talks about His ability to reign over all while people would be free to be who they are and choose to follow Him or not.
Those with the kingdom mindset believe that God is everywhere and that He influences every aspect of life. Note the difference between the words controlling and influencing.
Pastors with a kingdom mindset will release all their "sanctimony" to exercise their calling in the market place but a pastor with the church mindset will train people only to serve in a church building on Sunday. One is purely religious the other other is purely Godly.
Pastors should understand that not every "Christian" is called to serve the church, he should train those who are called as ministers in the kingdom of God and not only a person who is called to be a pastor in the church is a servant of God. Even a doctor, a business man, an engineer, a politician is a servant of God as he does his service for the glory of God by practicing the principles of the kingdom of God.
A congregation or community of believes with the kingdom mindset will embrace and love their surrounding unchurched communities but the people with the church mindset will embrace and love only people whom they share the same faith and doctrines and will work hard that everyone around them will be members of their congregation.
People were condemning Jesus for sitting with sinners, tax collectors and pagans but Jesus was not a pastor of his synagogue; he was a pastor of his community. He loved and served his community by preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God and solving their problems.
So we pastors should not be only pastors of our churches but we should be pastors of our communities.
A kingdom mindset person will speak of the rule of God over the entire created order but people with the church mindset will speak of the rule of God through pastors, elders, deacons.
Therefore, when we teach the message of the kingdom of God, this will bring the biblical transformation in the country, every Christian will know that God has called him as his servant wherever he is working and that he has to bring transformation in that place by proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and by applying the principles of the kingdom of God.
